Still on my Mexican kick, I made Pollo en Salsa de Fresadilla Y Chipotle from Diana Kennedy's cookbook. Fan-fucking-tastic. Just with whatever leftover corn and flour tortillas I had in the house. Dinner for 2 total+lunch tomorrow for 2....7$ and I that's because I had to buy Mexican bay leafs and a bunch of extra garlic.
Tomatillos? 2lbs for 99cents and I needed only 1.5lbs.
Limes? 10cents at the Bravo Supermarket.
Chicken? 3.5lbs? 3.50.
I swear, next week, I'll attempt my own tortillas.

I tend to shy away from recipes that have a alot of chipotle chile in it, as the wife doesn't do too well with super-spicy. This looks amazing.
Living in Freehold, I don't have to go too far to get fresh Mexican ingredients. I am, however, jealous that you have a tortilla press.
Hey, just got the link to your blog from Jez in the Beginner's Forum.
Awesome stuff, and great pictures! I've never made tortillas either, but I have made chapatis. It helps if you have someone in the kitchen with you as it speeds along the process.
Final note: Rick Bayless' cookbooks are good for different Mexican recipes.
